I’m writing this post while I’m still in a trial period with Squarespace (I’ve since committed). I have no idea if this will get published or not (apparently it did.) . You see I haven’t written a blog in a very long time and feel a bit unsure. I used to keep a fairly regular blog over on Blogger. I started that one in 2009 and then moved it to a Wordpress site in 2011. The posts from Wordpress are gone but the Blogger ones are still there. I looked through them just this morning and felt very emotional and nostalgic. There were many posts written by a younger mom with two sweet kids who were so little. The blogging world was at its height and I loved hopping from blog to blog to see what creative projects other bloggers were working on and what was going on in their life. It was a time when people were blogging to connect. We would get to ”know” the blogger. Somehow things seemed simpler and it was all very exciting.
Then came the slew of social media. You know the ones. Blogs written by artists and crafters seemed to dwindle away. The quickness of the social media sites became enchanting I suppose. It was/is a quick hit of beauty that came with lots of comparison as well. I may be wrong but I don’t think that was a thing so much when blogging started.
The sweet little kids are now not so little. I had been thinking of starting to blog again. I felt hesitant. I’m not sure if blogs are over. Are they? I hope not. I know many blogs have gone away and in truth I don’t read the ones that are out there still with consistency. However, I still enjoy them and I’m looking forward to sharing again here at Little Butterfly Studio. And I will start visiting more blogs. For all the reasons I mentioned above.
Not to go on too long but I’m back at. This site is a work in progress. Always. Just like me. Just like you. Just like life. I’m Dana. I like to make things. Thanks for being here.
